After more than 20 years in the semiconductor and solar industry, I’m thrilled to let you know that I recently co-founded Beyond the Light Project, a non-profit focused on eradicating energy poverty, which affects more than a billion people worldwide.
To address the lack of energy services available to families in remote areas, my partner, Jim Huffman, designed a low cost solar kit that provides light and a means to charge cell phones, flashlights and other low power devices. Beyond the Light is already deploying these solar kits to impoverished areas in Central America. But our project doesn't stop there. We leave behind a sustainable process that provides local jobs building, repairing and installing the kits.
