As you may have heard, Nicaragua is currently in a state of upheaval. What began as a movement against proposed cuts to pension and social security benefits escalated into protests and marches in Managua and neighboring towns after the deaths of students and protesters. Thankfully, our local Nicaraguan Beyond the Light Project team is safe and continuing their work to support our existing and future projects. While we monitor the situation, rest assured our efforts to help the families affected by energy poverty will continue as long as it is safe. We are also evaluating neighboring countries for opportunities to continue our cause of bringing light to Central America. In the meantime, our plans to build 100 new solar kits, install systems in the villages of La Mora and El Carmen, and establish a Nicaraguan solar battery maintenance center are still on track.
Our work in Nicaragua would not be possible without the support of friends like you. We have made great progress, but we still need $6,000 more to hit our target, so please donate today and help us reach our fundraising goal. To inspire you to donate today, we’ll send a Beyond the Light t-shirt to everyone who donates $100 or more towards our goal!
Thanks for your support!
