That's Alex, our technician! He is installing one of the systems from our July 2024 solar trip to Nicaragua.
The trip began with a meeting with our friend and colleague William Barquero at the mission house. It was great to visit him and his family and make plans for future research collaborations with UNAN Polisal Managua. Congratulations to William on his new director position and thanks to Sylvia for an excellent meal!
We set out July 1st with Wilbert and Harvey to meet the rest of our team in El Carmen. It was great to get to see everyone again and catch up with Pastor Domingo and his family.
As we set out to work I was again amazed by the beauty of the Matagalpa region of Nicaragua. Although there was a lot of rain we had plenty of help and made it to the houses.
Throughout the week we completed 15 new home installations. Jim, Pastor Domingo, Alex, Harvey, and Alexandro worked on the houses while Wilbert and Allison completed the surveys. The people were so happy to now have lights and we they shared a delicious meal at one house. Here are some of the homes and families with their new solar systems, and that's Alex on the roof again!
On the way back we worked on some supply-chain business and made connections with different some companies to help improve and expand the program. Thanks to Pastor Domingo, Sandra, Damaris, Crelyn, and Diana for sharing your house with us for the week. It was a great trip and we can’t wait to return again soon!
