Hello to all you Solar Supporters! We wanted to tell you a little bit about one of the families that we met in Honduras.
Here is a quick story about Claudia Rojas. She lives in the village of El Tomate in Honduras with her brother and 3 children. We saw Claudia working during the day at BE Ministries where we were staying. She is a wonderful mother and a very hard worker. Claudia gets up at 5am to cook for her brother, who works in the lumber industry. Prior to her new solar kit, Claudia would work at this time using candlelight. She also has a cellphone that she had to charge at her neighbors house…until now.
Claudia has 3 wonderful children ages 8, 7 and 3. Two of the children attend school and are in 3rd and 1st grade. She told me a story about the oldest girl in 3rd grade. Her teacher said she was extremely smart and talented, but had some issues with studying and homework. Claudia mentioned that there was not enough light in the house for her to do this in the evening. Now, she has light for her to do her homework. I could see that these children have great potential and we all need to work to make sure that they have the tools to realize it. The boys were also very active and play soccer.
I am so happy to have met Claudia and her wonderful family. We’ll see her again next year and check up on how everything is going. She and I are actually facebook friends, so I’m looking forward to hearing more about how having a solar system effects the life of her family.
