Co-Founder
Omar Samman has worked in the semiconductor industry for over 20 years, most recently involved with integrated circuit technology that improves energy harvesting of solar panels. He spends his spare time coaching youth tennis.
JIM HUFFMAN, PhD
Founder and Chief Engineer
Jim has been a research scientist and engineer for over 25 years and uses his skills to design and supervise the build, installation and field research of the solar electrical system. Jim is not only passionate about helping people without electricity, but he finds time to play the bagpipes.
HARVEY MOLINA MORA
Lead Electronics Technician
Harvey lives in Nandaime-Granada and is our lead electronics technician in Nicaragua. He comes by this naturally because his father is an electrician. Harvey really enjoys building and installing solar electrical systems in homes and schools. He is a master at the soldering iron and loves to play with the kids.
DOMINGO VALVERDE
Electronics Technician
Domingo Valverde is a pastor from Matagalpa, Nicaragua. He started his ministry 5 years ago, walking long distances to visit every member from his church during the week and on weekends he enjoys playing baseball and soccer with the youth of his church. As a contributing team member, he now also build, install and repair photovoltaic systems.
JARIB CASTILLO-SALCEDO
Electronics Engineer
Jarib lives in Nicaragua, where he uses his skills as an electrical engineer and his language ability as a trilingual translator to build, install and repair solar system. He also helps train members of the team and families using their systems. Not only is Jarib a faithful Christian and good engineer, but he plays guitar all around the Nicaraguan countryside.
LARRY THOMAS
Electronics Engineer
Larry has been an electronics technician for over 30 years and uses his skills to build the solar electrical system and make sure that it is rugged for the harsh environments. Not only is Larry a wizard with a soldering iron, but he is an outdoorsman from his home area of Arkansas.
ALLISON HUFFMAN, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Director of Health
Dr. Allison Huffman is a Family Nurse Practitioner and a professor who has over 20 years of experience working with underserved populations as a healthcare provider. She is currently working on health and education initiatives for BTLP as well as strategies in field research. She likes to stay involved with mission work and has a big heart for the people of Latin America.
